How do you spend a weekend in the Hamptons?
Summer is the best time of year especially if the weekend is spent in the hamptons. Over this past weekend Lauren was out working in the Michelle Farmer Collaborate in bridgehampton meeting with clients. Here is how she spent her weekend:
Friday afternoon I departured from the city and it was a very traffic filled one. After a few hours in the car I arrived in Amagansett to freshen up for dinner before heading to the East Hampton Grill with my husband and 3 friends. The menu is delicious. You really can’t go wrong with any of the choices. The Heavenly Biscuits are so amazing with a drizzle of honey. Also the hot fudge sundae is a must. They bring a ladle of hot fudge for your pouring pleasure. We had great wine, food and conversation at our dinner and then returned home to Amagansett for some zzzz’s
Saturday I got up early to stop at Mary’s Marvelous in Amagansett for a coffee and egg sandwich before heading into Michelle’s store. Upon arriving to the store i was delighted to see the bright colors and Hamptons Fashion in the store. The day turned out to be a beautiful beach day and after meeting with my clients I headed over the Indian Wells beach to catch just a bit of sun with friends before out night out. We got dolled up and went over to the SOFO benefit in Bridghampton where the highlight of my night was meeting the gorgeous Christie Brinklely. Of course I had to ask for a photo with her(see above) It was beautiful night. There was a stunning dance floor with a DJ where we all danced and danced. After the party we headed over to Pierre’s in Bridgehampton for Mussels and Fries. The best late night snack:)
Sunday’s drive back to the city was and early one(to beat the traffic) and to get organized for the busy week ahead. I love the summer and especially when I spend the weekend in the hamptons! It was a great time with good friends mixed with a bit of work and some sun . I would love to hear how do you spend a weekend in the Hamptons? and if you have any favorite things to do on the weekends? write a comment below for the chance to win a special gift!
Until Next Time,
xoxo

How to wear chartreuse
The color of the summer is Chartreuse a vibrant mix of yellow and green. Are you wondering how to wear chartreuse in your daily life? It is super simple to pull off this color! We decided to dress our windows in Chartreuse today with the Daydreamer in the punch of color and we belted the anywhere dress with a chartreuse belt. This color is so vibrant and looks stunning on many skintones. On others it can make you look sick or washed out. The trick to wearing chartreuse is to wear the right amount of it. For a blonde it is a little easier, try wearing a dress in the hue with a nude shoe and a bright pink bag. The nude shoe will elongate the legs while the bright bag will compliment the tones. For a more olive skin tone, try wearing a classic color like white or champagne with a punch of Chartreuse. A scarf or handbag will do the trick. Pair it a gem store earring and you are all set. Lastly try wearing Chartreuse as a layering piece. The daydreamer above consists of an outer chiffon layer that can be worn over the ivory slip or can be worn over a simple white tank top and jean shorts. The mixing of layers will be just the right pop of color that you are looking for!
Perfect beach cover up
The beach is one of the best places to be in the summer. When you step out of the water, instead of tying a towel around your waist or throwing on a T-shirt, put on a breezy, colorful cover-up. Pick a cover-up that provides enough coverage that you can wear it to a beachside cafe for drinks. Shown in the photo above is the perfect beach coverup. The Fly Away Tunic. This can be worn as a coverup over your bikini or over jean shorts for a daytime look. This style was designed and made exclusively for the Michelle Farmer Collaborate in Brideghampton. There are assorted cotton prints that are all one of kind to choose from, this tunic is a hamptons essential and is the perfect piece for the beach. When you are spending the day lounging at the beach make sure to pack a few important items…. 1.) sunscreen-At least a 15spf is a must. You want to keep that skin healthy and burn free and anything lower than a 15 will only offer 0 protection from the sun. 2.) We love a great hat, pack one for some added projection. A cowboy had like the one pictured above will do just the trick or a floppy wide brim will also work. Going to be spending more than a few hours? 3.) Trying packing beach pillows like the ones in the photo above. This will give you some added cushion for your day of lounging and it looks pretty too! Lastly, be sure to pack some fresh fruits, nuts and of course some rose wine. After all, the drinks are essential for a relaxing day at the beach!
Easy Daytime Summer Dress
Ladies, we all love an easy daytime summer dress to wear in the heat of the summer in the city. A dress that won’t stick to your butt when you sit down and keep you cool when waiting on the subway platform in the stagnant heat. We also love a functional piece that won’t go out of style, is special and unique and can travel well. The best part about summer is that you can just throw a dress on with sandals and just go. Having trouble finding that perfect dress for all of summers hot days? This dress in the photo above is titled the “Daydreamer Dress” and is one of Lauren’s favorites for summer time. It is a two piece look. The inner slip is made of cotton jersey and the outer crinkle chiffon has lace tiers that make it delicate and floaty. The Daydreamer is perfect because it is mulitfunctional. Pack it for a trip and wear it during the day over jeans and a tank. Then throw the outer chiffon layer over your swimsuit as a beach coverup. At night dress it up with a platform wedge heel and some bright jewelry. You can pick up this summer staple at our mott street store. We have many colors from navy(shown above) to cobalt and hot pink. Not in NYC? Call us at the shop and we can ship it to you. 212-966-0767
Ride in style via Citi Bike
I don’t know about you, but I’m psyched for the new Citi Bike system. I spotted these over the weekend on Mott and Prince street. Citibank has now given residents and tourists alike the extra option of traveling anywhere within New York City. With tourist season in full effect, the city will swell with more people than ever before. Why be stuck in traffic paying crazy taxi meter fares, or in the sweltering underground waiting for trains that sometimes take forever to arrive? While on these easily recognizable bicycles, you’ll be able to get to where you’re going and enjoy fresh air. When you’re done riding, just park it at one of the 100s of stations located within Manhattan and Brooklyn. If you’re here for a short time, opt to rent for 24hrs or a full week’s worth of access. For long-term stays, go big and become an annual member! With an annual pass, you will get an extra time(45 minutes) before needing to return it. Either way you’ll be getting a new perspective, and be able to do more with your time. Visit one of your favorite neighborhoods, Nolita, and stop in to our shop at 278 Mott Street where you will find the perfect summer dress. The Bicycle Dress! Convenient, cost effective and also helping to preserve our environment in the metropolis of New York- what more is there to consider? Ah, just one more thing- always ride SAFE; strap on those helmets and obey all traffic regulations. And then grab some friends to Unlock, Ride, and Return!
Summer Eyelet Dresses
Summer time means Dresses Galore! We love to wear dresses all summer long at Lauren Gabrielson. Swing dresses, shift dresses, fitted dresses we love them all! however, they are not all created equal. In the summer time it can be challenging to find the right dress that keeps us comfortable and looking chic at the same time. A summer eyelet dress is the perfect solution to your summer needs. Eyelet is a cotton based fabric that comes in a variety of colors. If you are in the city during summers, you know how hot and sticky it can get. Especially while commuting on the subway. We suggest you try a shift style for maximum comfort. A shift dress is a slight aline shape that is not body hugging. It is a classic shape that can take you from the city to the beach in the same day. Eyelet fabric screams summer so it is the perfect vacation dress. As for color, A nice crisp white is always nice. However, a pop of color can brighten up anyones day. Choose a coral or turquoise, or another very summery color. The audrey dress is a popular style when made in a crisp white eyelet. Wear it over a bikini as a cover up at the beach or have it made with a lining in a bright bold color for an anytime look. Visit us on Mott Street to have your eyelet dress made for all of this summers festivities or email Lauren@LaurenGabrielson.com to get started.

Bridesmaid’s dresses for a summer wedding
A recent bridesmaid customer sent me this pretty picture of her at the wedding she was in last weekend. It was a Hampton’s wedding held at The Long House Reserve in East Hampton. Summer in the Hampton’s is relaxed, peaceful and elegant all at the same time. The bridesmaids were all asked to find a blush colored dress and knowing that all of the Lauren Gabrielson dresses can be made in one of 98 colors, we were the right place to come for the perfect bridesmaids dress. This is a common trend when the bridesmaids are given a color and asked to go on the hunt for a dress style of their choice. This is a great idea as it lets each bridesmaid show their personal style. We suggest however, that you go shopping in person and stay away from online. It is hard to judge how a dress will fit you online and may look different on you then on the model. Also, the color tone may be off due to the screen settings on each individuals computer. LeeAnn picked out the bicycle dress in a beautiful blush tone. The color is so beautiful with the lush landscape of greens and pretty flowers. I love how each maid wears a flower bracelet around the wrist. We love how this bridesmaid kept her jewelry minimal complimented by the loose waves she looks garden chic. If you are in need of a bridesmaid’s dress in a specific color, shop our nolita store to get your bridesmaid look today!
Classic Graduation Dresses
Another school year is coming to an end and that means Graduation for some. Graduation from High School and college you are required to wear a cap and gown which is the most unflattering piece of polyester fabric. However, the true fashion lies beneath the gown. After sitting through the 5 hour long ceremony that gown comes off and next comes our pictures in the cute dress with cap still a top the head. It is important to keep in mind that this is a proud day for parents and they will most likely frame this photo and put it on display in their home for the rest of your life so keep in mind your fashion choice. What to wear for graduation? We suggest wearing a classic graduation dress. What is a classic graduation dress you ask? look for a simple silhouette. A fitted style or a slight aline shape. Stay away from super flowy dresses as you never know how windy the day will be and don’t need any panty shots. The Bicycle dress is a good example of just the right flare without being to flowy. Also, keep away from any styles that are too trendy. Keep it simple and elegant in a cotton or matte silk fabric. As for color, a classic summer white is always great or if you are a future fashion editor, try a bold print or color. Finish off the look with a fun and funky shoe. Try a wedge heel or platform for the added comfort and a chic pair of shades. Some of our favorite Lauren Gabrielson dress styles would have to be the Harper Dress or the bicycle dress. Both are shown below.
